Congressman Paul A. Gosar (AZ-09) has announced that Yuma Elementary School District One will receive a federal grant of $8,030,235 to replace the James D. Price Elementary School at Yuma Proving Ground.

“I am very pleased to announce that the Department of Defense Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation has approved this $8 million federal grant to address facility capacity and condition deficiencies at James D. Price Elementary School in Yuma, Arizona.

This important funding will ensure students, teachers and staff have a safe and modern learning environment they deserve by replacing an aging infrastructure that has strained the elementary school for years.

Every child deserves a safe and supportive place to learn. Strong schools are the foundation of a strong community. This investment will give students the space and facilities they need to strive, and I am pleased to announce this critical award,” stated Congressman Gosar.

The Department of Defense’s Public Schools on Military Installations program is providing the grant through its Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. The funds will support construction for 125 kindergarten through fifth grade students. Work is expected to begin in February 2026.

Paul Gosar recently won re-election in 2024 against Quacy Smith with 65.3% of the vote, following his previous victory over Richard Grayson in 2022 with nearly 98% support.
