This week, Representative Paul Gosar provided an update on his recent activities in Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District. Gosar visited Colorado City to meet with constituents and highlighted the work of local volunteers at the Common Grounds Center, including its thrift store and youth center. He emphasized the importance of grassroots service and stated, “Seeing this kind of grassroots service in action offers an important reminder that strong communities are built locally — and it is my honor to support them in Congress.”
Gosar also announced his support for legislation aimed at revoking federal tax-exempt status from organizations that perform or fund abortions. He said, “Tax-exempt status is a public privilege meant to support work that genuinely benefits the common good — and it should not be conferred on entities that profit from or facilitate the destruction of innocent human life.” The bill seeks to address what he described as a loophole allowing some abortion-related organizations to receive favorable tax treatment.
Additionally, Gosar introduced H.R. 7159, known as the Protecting Local Zoos Act. This bipartisan bill proposes changes to federal regulations affecting big cat facilities. According to Gosar, “The legislation clarifies who may safely work with big cats, allows facilities to correct mistaken registrations, fixes overly broad import/export restrictions, aligns licensing standards fairly, and corrects species misclassifications — all while maintaining strong animal welfare protections.” He cited Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park as an example of institutions affected by current regulations.
In another development, Gosar joined the Sharia Free America Caucus alongside other members of Congress. Explaining his decision, he said: “I believe it is vital to defend the U.S. Constitution, individual liberties, and the rule of law against any ideology or legal system that is fundamentally incompatible with our founding principles.” The caucus aims to prevent Sharia law from influencing American governance.
Gosar also discussed tax relief measures enacted through what he referred to as The One Big Beautiful Bill. These reforms include expanding the Child Tax Credit for parents, introducing a new senior deduction protecting Social Security income, eliminating federal taxes on tips and overtime pay, and providing broader tax reductions for middle-income earners. Gosar commented: “These reforms are designed to reward work, support families, and help seniors keep more of what they’ve earned.”
Representative Gosar has maintained electoral strength in recent years; in 2024 he won re-election against Quacy Smith with over 65% of the vote (https://ballotpedia.org/Paul_Gosar). In 2022 he defeated Richard Grayson by a wide margin.
