This week, U.S. Representative Paul Gosar (R-Goodyear) released an early and condensed edition of his weekly newsletter due to scheduled systemwide software maintenance. The full-length version is expected to return next week.
The newsletter began by acknowledging Veterans Day, with a message expressing gratitude for the service and sacrifice of military veterans. “Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication embody the very best of America. To all our veterans—thank you for your service, your strength, and your enduring commitment to our country. May we never take for granted the peace and liberty you have secured for us all,” Gosar stated.
Gosar addressed the recent end of what he called the “Schumer-Gallego-Kelly Shutdown,” referring to a 43-day government shutdown that concluded after eight Senate Democrats joined Republicans in voting to reopen the government. He criticized Democrats for causing delays and economic harm: “The Democrat shutdown was nothing more than an embarrassing political stunt to stall President Trump and Republican momentum.” According to Gosar, over six weeks of shutdown led to tens of billions in economic losses, disrupted flights affecting about 5.2 million travelers as reported by Airlines for America, delayed paychecks for over one million government workers, and interruptions in food stamp benefits.
Economists estimate that the shutdown cost about $15 billion per week, totaling approximately $93 billion in lost GDP during its duration. In his statement, Gosar noted that “Democrats voted in favor of a budget that was nearly the same terms that Republicans offered back in September.”
The newsletter also featured a photograph submitted by Rob Morgan from Goodyear, Arizona, taken during a morning hike in Estrella. Readers are encouraged to submit their own photos for future editions.
In addition to news updates from Fox News, Breitbart, and the New York Post, Gosar included a disclaimer clarifying that links do not represent endorsements or reflect his views: “We don’t vouch for every publication or every author… The views expressed in any of the publications do not represent any promotion, endorsement or reflection of Congressman Gosar’s views.”
Paul Gosar has maintained electoral success in recent years. In 2024 he won against Quacy Smith with 65.3% of the vote compared to Smith’s 34.7%. In 2022 he defeated Richard Grayson with 97.8% of votes versus Grayson’s 1.8%.
