Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives has passed H.R. 1043, the La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act, introduced by Congressman Paul A. Gosar (AZ-09). This legislation mandates the Secretary of the Interior to transfer 3,400 acres of Bureau of Land Management land to La Paz County. The goal is to enhance renewable energy generation and storage capabilities while boosting the county’s tax base and economic development.

Congressman Gosar stated, “Since 2015, I have worked tirelessly on behalf of La Paz County to convey 8,000 acres to the community for solar energy. I am very pleased that the United States House of Representatives has now passed the La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act.”

The bill aims to support La Paz County’s energy sector by facilitating clean energy development on these lands, creating employment opportunities for residents. “My latest bill is vital to the financial future of La Paz County,” Gosar added.

La Paz County has been actively increasing its renewable energy capacity through solar power initiatives as Arizona continues expanding its technology industry. Gosar emphasized local governance over federal influence in managing community interests.

Chairman Bruce Westerman from the House Committee on Natural Resources remarked, “Congressman Gosar’s legislation will create thousands of new jobs and help unleash American energy dominance.”

Holly Irwin, La Paz County Supervisor for District 3, commented on the positive impact: “La Paz County is uniquely positioned to support renewable energy development… our community will have access to good-paying jobs along with the ability to create a long-term revenue stream for years to come.”
