U.S. Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona’s 9th Congressional District released his weekly newsletter on January 18, 2026, highlighting several recent activities and legislative priorities.

Gosar reported visiting the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector Headquarters for a tour of the border. He was joined by Hungarian Ambassador Takács and other senior officials from Hungary, who observed U.S. border security measures with an eye toward applying similar strategies in their own country. Hungary faces challenges along its southern border with Serbia due to illegal migration into the European Union.

Gosar stated, “The border in the Yuma Sector is now sealed, controlled, and being actively enforced—clear evidence that when the law is respected and Border Patrol is empowered to do its job, order can be restored.” He added his appreciation for the work of Border Patrol agents and pledged continued support in Congress.

During his visit to Yuma, Gosar also toured Onvida Health Yuma Medical Center’s robotic surgery center. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Simon Lavotshkin and staff for showcasing medical innovations serving rural and border communities.

In legislative news, Gosar announced he cosponsored H.R. 7008, known as the Stop Insider Trading Act. “Using that access to trade stocks is wrong – period, hard stop,” Gosar said regarding congressional members trading stocks based on privileged information. He cited concerns about public trust and referenced stock trades by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as examples of potential conflicts of interest.

Gosar also addressed ongoing investigations related to Jeffrey Epstein. According to him, Bill and Hillary Clinton declined requests to testify before a House Oversight Committee investigation into Epstein’s activities: “I am deeply troubled by Bill and Hillary Clinton’s refusal to comply with a lawful congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.” Gosar indicated he would pursue further legal options if necessary.

Additionally, alongside Senator Joni Ernst, Gosar called for an immediate halt in federal funding for bat research at Colorado State University over biosafety concerns: “I am deeply concerned that this ‘Wuhan-style’ bat lab facility continues to receive federal dollars despite serious biosafety, transparency, and taxpayer waste issues.”

On economic matters, Gosar highlighted recent data indicating lower inflation rates under President Trump’s administration compared with previous years during President Biden’s term. He noted improvements such as rising real wages for private-sector workers and increased investment activity.

The newsletter included constituent correspondence covering topics like Capitol tour experiences and national security policy regarding Greenland. In response to one letter expressing concern about possible military action against Greenland or NATO allies, Gosar replied that current negotiations are focused on peaceful solutions: “Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made clear that President Trump has no intention of using force.”

Paul Gosar has represented Arizona’s 9th Congressional District after winning reelection in both 2022 (defeating Richard Grayson) and 2024 (defeating Quacy Smith), maintaining strong support among voters.
