A new Microsoft data center will bring 50 more jobs to the Phoenix area.
According to El Mirage spokeswoman Amber Wakeman, Microsoft’s new data center, will provide more employment. It’s one of three new data centers Microsoft is planning in the Phoenix area. The other two will be in nearby Goodyear.
Microsoft paid $20.3 million for 151 acres for the data center, which are locations where IT equipment and operations are based. Data is stored, managed and disbursed from the facilities.
The long and low-lying metro Phoenix data center along Olive Avenue near Dysart Road is nearing completion and is built near two new advancements in Glendale: A warehouse in the Westgate Entertainment District and a U.S. Army reserve center near Luke Air Force Base.
The massive 182,000-square-foot warehouse that is set to open this summer is located east of Conair Corp.'s distribution center and the corporate campus is being built but no tenant has been lined up yet, according to Nitti Builders COO Juan Galan.
