Colorado River Union High School District students resumed school–virtually–March 30.

More than 1,800 students will make the switch. This change is a response to state-mandated COVID-19 school closures, which are now in their third week.

“We are exploring avenues that will benefit our students during this disruption to their normal routines,” said CRUHSD Supt. Todd Flora according to Mohave Daily News. “Teachers will be working on developing lessons that engage students and allow opportunities to apply their knowledge and make connections to the world around them."

This change affects general education students as well as English language learners and special education students. For students enrolled in concurrent or dual-enrollment courses with Mohave Community College, their schedules may be impacted and their instructors contacted them about it.

Teachers will educate students with online software like Google Classroom and Zoom. Parents can stay updated and in communication with Synergy ParentVue. This provides additional information including their child’s grades as well as their attendance information. Parents who did not already have a ParentVue account should contact their child’s high school.

Students were asked to complete a poll in order to gauge their internet accessibility as well as their access to internet. Students who need laptop computers can check them out. Students who need Internet access for school can communicate with Suddenlink and receive free “Altice Advantage” internet for 60 days. The number to contact them is 888-633-0030. Whoever needs to complete the survey should contact River Valley or Mohave high schools. Staff are answering calls to help families transition to the system.

Students without internet access can also use public internet available to them in the parking lots of the public libraries. The internet at Fort Mohave, Bullhead City and Laughlin libraries will remain open for them to use. They are instructed to download their assignments and then work on them at home.
