Polling place where Gary Sheffield Jr. voted.
Gary Sheffield Jr., a 26 year old Chandler resident, said he had voted in two elections previously and had not experienced such an issue.
“I definitely thought it was weird that when I turned it over to the judges, that might look with bleeding so far through the paper that it looked like I already filled out the back of the ballot,” Sheffield told Mohave Today. “And to me, that that had to have some kind of influence on what's going on in the ballots.”
Sheffield said he voted at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church at 9248 E Riggs Road in Sun Lakes.

Voters in line at a polling place last night reported ballots marked with sharpies were being invalidated in nearby Queen Creek and Gilbert, both heavily Republican areas.
The problem according to Sheffield is not the markers themselves, but the fact they may make possible for an outside observer to make their own determination of what the voter’s intention was in a recount situation.
“It feels like a subjective viewpoint of how your ballot looks and that's the issue for me with the credibility of these ballots,” Sheffield said.
Gov. Doug Ducey just announced the state will be scrutinizing all votes closely.
“We’re not getting the results that we're supposed to be getting. So it is definitely worrisome,” Sheffield added. “It’s not like I'm trying to figure out a way to determine if this is voter fraud, but I definitely want to, I want to make sure that our votes are being counted. And right now, there's something, there's no indication whatsoever that they did take my ballot and I've talked to 10 or 15 other people and they're saying the same thing.”
Of those he has spoken with, Sheffield said he heard stories or irregularities such as voting records not being appropriately registered by the state.
Voters are encouraged to check the status of their ballots if they have concerns.
