CITY OF TEMPE: People can now seal some marijuana-related criminal records

Criminallawyerorlandofl zps36d6640b

City of Tempe issued the following announcement on July 16.

Voter-passed Proposition 207 included a new statute (A.R.S. § 36-2862) that authorizes people to petition a court for an order that will seal, or expunge, certain kinds of marijuana-related criminal records.

This can be helpful to those looking for jobs, hoping to get a loan, rent property or register to vote.

Charges that can be expunged include:

·        Possessing, consuming, or transporting two and one-half ounces or less of marijuana, of which not more than twelve and one-half grams was in the form of marijuana concentrate;

·        Possessing, transporting, cultivating, or processing not more than six marijuana plants at your primary residence for personal use; or

·        Possessing, using, or transporting paraphernalia related to the cultivation, manufacture, processing, or consumption of marijuana.
