Mohave Community College issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
Mohave Community College is unveiling its new welding building on the Bullhead Campus. The ribbon cutting of the new 2,000 square feet building will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 10 at 3400 Highway 95, Building 313.
The multipurpose space will provide both and instructional and lab space. Students will have access to 12 welding booths and other outside work spaces in the adjoining yard. Students will have the opportunity to learn on new equipment including a plasma table that will help increase educational effectiveness.
Jason Gee, Career and Technical Education Associate Dean of Instruction, said the college started the welding program on the Bullhead City campus with a lab concept that was intended to support area students so they wouldn’t have to travel to the Kingman campus as often, and after a year they were at capacity.
“The completion of this project brings the Bullhead City program to the level of quality that Kingman has enjoyed for years. I am excited for the students to see and use the new space and to discover what they will create with the new equipment,” he said.
The building will more than double the student capacity and provide a superior training experience for projects by having more room for creativity.
