Late-season planting Is still an option

AZ Health Zone would like to remind Mohave County gardeners at slightly higher elevations (Kingman-Peach Springs-Meadview) that it is not too late to start growing some tasty foods from Seed to Supper. There are crops that will produce in about 60 days, meaning there’s still time before the first frost. Some good choices for the area include pole or bush beans, basil, cucumbers, summer squash, swiss chard, and sweet corn. For those who decide to try pole/bush beans, it is important to remember they are not a heat-loving crop, so a bit of shade will help. Corn will appreciate the soil being kept moist throughout its growing cycle.

Grow, harvest, eat.

Stay tuned to Mohave County Department of Public Health Facebook page for future Seed to Supper programs.
