Gilbert, Ariz. - During last night's council meeting, the Gilbert Town Council approved a 3.95% ambulance transportation rate increase.

The new rates will go into effect on July 1, 2023.

The Arizona Department of Health Services regulates billing rates in Arizona. The department's most recent evaluation allowed for a rate increase request of 3.95% for providers in the Phoenix region based on the percentage change in the Transportation Consumer Price Index and Medical Care Consumer Price Index.

The rate increase proposal can be found in the agenda packet from last night's meeting (pages 876 -878).

Gilbert's New Ambulance Billing Rates As of July 1:

  • Advanced Life Support (per transport): $1059.65
  • Basic Life Support (per transport): $944.32
  • Mileage (per mile): $18.34
  • Stand-by - $236.09 per hour
Gilbert launched its ambulance service in 2019 with a goal of providing enhanced patient and employee safety, a cost-effective service model with lower rates for users, and long-term sustainability for this critical line of service that prioritizes the needs of Gilbert citizens.  Learn more about Gilbert Fire & Rescue’s Ambulance Transportation Division at gilbertaz.gov/fire.
