Arizona Rep. Travis Grantham expressed his support for Israel in the midst of ongoing reports detailing significant casualties resulting from the Israel-Hamas conflict that unfolded over the weekend.
"I hope Israel eliminates all of them. Good Riddance," Grantham said.
The conflict began when Hamas, an Islamist militant group, launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War that began on Oct. 6, 1973. The firing of thousands of rockets towards several parts of Israel, including areas like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, has resulted in a death toll of over 900 people, with thousands injured, and these numbers are expected to increase. Among the deceased, there were at least 11 American citizens. Israel has declared war on Hamas following the attack, according to ABC News.
Hamas is one of the major political parties in the Palestinian territories, known for its resistance against Israel. In 1997, the United States officially designated Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization, particularly due to its use of tactics like suicide bombings. Iran is among the significant supporters of Hamas, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
The Biden Administration faces accusations regarding its alleged "role" in the attack. Last month, Biden unfroze access to $6 billion in assets, intended for controlled funds and humanitarian purposes. This move was part of a deal to secure the release of some jailed American citizens. However, Iran reportedly indicated an intention to spend the funds as they see fit, according to BBC.
The Biden Administration has also come under scrutiny for its decision to host a barbecue event this past Sunday. According to reports, the event featured live music and was intended for the enjoyment of White House staff. The event took place shortly after the attack in Israel which resulted in war to break out, according to Fox News.
In the wake of the recent attack, immigration concerns have taken center stage among U.S. lawmakers. Many are raising questions about the potential infiltration of terrorists through illegal immigration, especially amidst the ongoing border crisis. Former President Trump has added fuel to the fire with a post on Truth Social, alleging that members of Hamas are entering the country through the open border and plotting attacks on U.S. soil. This has ignited a broader debate about the Biden administration's border control measures and its impact on national security, according to Newsweek.
"How many radical Islamist terrorists have crossed our southern border into the U.S. in the past two and a half years?," said Lou Dobbs, American conservative political commentator, in a post on the X platform. "Where are they? What do they intend? Only the anti-semitic Marxist Dems who control this corrupt anti-America Biden Regime know. And who are they? It's time we have answers."
"Dear Israel, We apologize for the $6 billion funding of Iran by the illegitimate man in our White House," wrote Rogan O'Handley, Ambassador for Turning Point USA, on the X platform. "We know you are now suffering as a result of his choice to help fund a terrorist-supporting nation. We are doing everything we can to stop him from inflicting more harm and devastation on your country. Sincerely, Tens of millions of Americans who know our 2020 election was rigged."
