Washington, D.C. - Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-09), expressed his disapproval of President Biden's request to jointly fund wars in Ukraine and Israel. In a statement, Gosar emphasized the need to debate and vote on funding for each country separately.
Gosar stated, "This situation in Israel is not the same as Ukraine and requests for funding must be debated and voted on separately. It is a mistake to couple Israel funding with Ukraine funding. I will vote for necessary funding to assist Israel in its time of need but if it is combined with billions more for Ukraine, I will vote no."
The Congressman further elaborated on his stance, highlighting his previous opposition to supporting the proxy war in Ukraine. Gosar firmly stated, "I have voted against every dime spent supporting the proxy war in Ukraine and I will not start now just because it is wrapped in an Israeli flag."
Gosar also raised concerns about corruption, alleging that President Biden had received a $20 million bribe from Ukraine in exchange for over $100 billion in taxpayer money to fund the war in Ukraine. He expressed his refusal to contribute to this corruption by sending more money to the authoritarian Ukrainian regime.
Congressman Gosar's statement reflects his belief that the funding for Israel and Ukraine should be treated separately. He stands firm in his opposition to coupling the two funding requests and emphasizes the need for a thorough debate and separate votes on each issue.
As the debate on supplemental funding for Israel and Ukraine continues, it remains to be seen how other lawmakers will respond to President Biden's request. The issue of funding for these two nations has become a point of contention, with differing opinions on the best course of action.
