CHANDLER, Ariz. — The City of Chandler is partnering with Mesa United Way and Azura for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to help working families who earned less than $64,000 in 2023 with free tax preparation and filing services.
Through this partnership, there are eight tax preparation sites located in Chandler that are scheduled to open starting Jan. 29 until April 13*. Free tax assistance will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at seven of the eight sites; the Sun Lakes location will require an appointment.
• AZCEND Chandler, 345 S. California St., 4–7 p.m. Wednesdays
• Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, 2133 W. Elliot Road, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays
• Chandler CARE Center, 777 E. Galveston St., noon–4 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Feb. 16–17, March 29–30.
• Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Pecos Campus, 2626 E. Pecos Road, RM LIB-104, 6–9 p.m. Wednesday. Closed March 13.
• Chandler-Gilbert Community College - Sun Lakes Center, 25105 S. Alma School Road, 9 a.m. to noon Fridays. Closed March 15 and 29. Sun Lakes residents: Please make an appointment at the admin desk of Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd.
• Hamilton Library, 3700 S. Arizona Ave., 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays and Fridays. Closed March 29 and April 11–12. This location will open on Feb. 1 through April 5*.
• Salvation Army, 85 E. Saragosa St., 1–6 p.m. Thursdays
• Sunset Library, 4930 W. Ray Road, 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Tuesdays. Closed Feb. 19. This location is open through April 9*.

In addition, the Chandler Downtown Library is hosting AARP Tax-Aide starting Feb. 1 through April 15. AARP Tax-Aide assists low- to middle income taxpayers file personal Federal and Arizona State tax returns for free. Their focus is on taxpayers 50 and older, but there is no age requirement and AARP membership is not required. Their hours of service are: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays (closed Feb. 19), Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 3–7 p.m. Wednesdays. Registration is required to schedule an appointment. As an alternative to these in-person services, the public is always welcome to use MyFreeTaxes.com to file basic taxes for free.
