Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-09), issued a statement following his vote in favor of H.R. 8281, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act). The legislation, co-sponsored by Congressman Gosar, aims to amend current law to require states to obtain documentary proof of United States citizenship when registering an individual to vote in a federal election, including for mail-in voting.

“I find it both laughable and preposterous that the same people who, for the past four years, forced you to carry a vaccine passport to dine in a restaurant, hold a job or get on a flight are the same people now opposing common-sense legislation requiring individuals to show proof of American citizenship to vote in elections," stated Congressman Gosar.

He added, "Voters are overwhelmingly concerned about the integrity of elections and rightfully so. In fact, most states today continue to allow illegal aliens to receive a driver’s license, thus allowing voter registration materials. With 11 million lawbreakers pouring across Joe Biden’s open border, this legislation is a crucial step towards ensuring our elections are fair and honest.”
