This week, President Trump signed H.R. 1043, the La Paz County Solar Energy and Jobs Creation Act, into law. The legislation was introduced by Congressman Paul Gosar and aims to facilitate energy development and job creation in La Paz County, Arizona.

According to Congressman Gosar, “The signing of the La Paz County Solar Energy and Jobs Creation Act marks a significant milestone for La Paz County and reflects years of sustained effort to responsibly harness the region’s vast energy potential. Championed by me, this legislation represents the culmination of more than a decade of my efforts to advance commonsense land-use reforms that put local communities—not Washington bureaucrats—first. It builds on my prior legislative successes aimed at unlocking economic opportunity in western Arizona while strengthening America’s energy independence.”

Arizona ranks fourth nationally for total installed solar capacity. With 306 sunny days per year and existing transmission infrastructure, La Paz County has been considered suitable for solar development but was limited by federal land restrictions. H.R. 1043 authorizes the transfer of federal land to La Paz County for large-scale solar generation and storage projects.

Gosar stated, “The importance of this legislation cannot be overstated for La Paz County’s long-term economic future. Solar projects made possible under H.R. 1043 will generate construction and permanent jobs, spur related infrastructure development, and provide new revenue streams for local services such as schools, public safety, and roads. At the same time, the bill reinforces a conservative, all-of-the-above energy strategy that values innovation, domestic production, and local control rather than top-down federal mandates.”

He added that President Trump’s approval “delivered a tangible win for La Paz County families and workers,” positioning the county as a hub for solar energy development.

In other news highlighted by Congressman Gosar this week, President Trump announced the arrest of Nicolás Maduro following a U.S.-led operation. Gosar commented: “President Trump’s decisive action and successful operation to apprehend narco-tyrant Nicolás Maduro marks a major step forward for U.S. security and leadership in the Western Hemisphere… God bless the men and women of the U.S. military who made this possible.” He emphasized that Maduro will face trial in American courts.

Additionally, recent data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicates that about 70 percent of illegal migrants arrested this year have criminal convictions or pending charges. Gosar remarked: “These are not abstractions or statistics pulled out of thin air—they represent lowlifes who have broken our laws… This data directly contradicts persistent claims from the mainstream media and open-borders activists who have repeatedly asserted that immigration enforcement efforts primarily target otherwise ‘law-abiding’ individuals.” He commended ICE officers for their work.

Congressman Gosar has recently secured electoral victories in his district; he won against Quacy Smith in 2024 with approximately 65% of votes compared to Smith’s 35%, according to official results.
