Mohave Accelerated Learning Center (MALC) connected with an organization in Mesa, Arizona, to help supply computers and laptops to students that don't have access to a device to do their school work at home.
“It started when Topock Elementary School District [Superintendent] John Warren informed superintendents from the area schools that there was a nonprofit organization that was giving out refurbished computers to any nonprofit schools that were in need,” MALC Schools Superintendent Casey Mulligan told Mohave Valley Daily News. “It’s called [Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology] (AZStrut). John [Warren] was able to get 25 computers for his families as well.”
AZStrut is a nonprofit that accepts donations of older computers and laptops, according to the Mohave Valley Daily News. The organization wipes them clean and gives them out to students in need. Mulligan said he requested 50 computers for his students and the request was approved.
“I went to Phoenix last Thursday to pick them up,” Mulligan told the Mohave Valley Daily News. “I brought them back, we started firing them up and they are going to work just fine for us.”
