Mohave County Public Health Director Denise Burley is clearing up concerns related to COVID-19 cases labeled “under investigation.”
“We cannot always get to every case every day,” Burley said at a June 4 meeting between the County Board and Department of Public Health, as reported by the Kingman Miner. “Especially if we get 10 cases or more per day, sometimes late in the afternoon, there’s little chance to reach this particular person.”
Burley told meeting attendees that the county health department is not waiting until they have complete information on the cases before reporting them because it doesn’t want to delay the reporting process or have discrepancies with data from the Arizona’s Health Department.
While Burley didn’t disclose the number of cases currently under investigation, she said they are being worked on daily.
“What was reported as ‘under investigation’ a few days ago was probably addressed by one of the nurses and the investigation has started,” Burley said at the meeting.
Burley is hopeful the county health department will make a data entry position available to assist with the investigations.
