Voters in Gilbert, Queen Creek complain of voter suppression

Alleged voting irregularities have been noted in Arizona, particularly with those who used markers at the polling places.

Chandler resident Gary Sheffield Jr. said the marker immediately bled through when he cast his votes, causing him to cast doubt on the process.

Now, a video appears to back up claims that ballots marked with sharpies may be in danger of not being counted.

“So they are invalidating votes is what they are doing, yes?” a man taking video of a voter asks.

In the clip taken, the voters talk about how ballots were trashed.

“Four different places were doing Sharpies all in between Queen Creek and Gilbert,” a woman in the video says.

She goes on to say she was stopped from giving out ballpoint pens.

“There was a guy that came out directly and yelled at me three times,” she said.

The voter taking the video said the same thing happened to him.

“They called the sheriffs and told us to stop handing to the ballpoint pens, in which case those are the only ones being counted and validated,” he said.

He further opines that Trump votes are being tossed out.

“We’ve been telling them, you need to use a ballpoint pen and not the Sharpies, those are getting invalidated,” the man said. “So people are coming here to vote for Donald Trump and all of those votes are getting invalidated. That is what is going on. There we go.”

Gov. Doug Ducey recently called on those looking to call the election to slow down and ensure all votes are counted.

Voters are also being encouraged to check with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office to check their ballot status.
