Mohave County issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.
The Mohave County West Basin Water Users Study Committee recently held its final meeting to discuss and adopt committee recommendations.
The recommendations were limited to suggestions on groundwater use in the Hualapai Valley and Sacramento Valley basins and the recommendations are included in a report that goes to the ADWR (Arizona Department of Water Resources) Director, the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. (a copy is also sent to the Secretary of State.) There were 13 separate recommendations considered at the legislative committee meeting. Ten of those 13 passed by committee votes of either 6-1 or 5-2. No votes were taken on the recommendations in the letters from committee members John Hansen, former Chairman, Kingman and Mohave Manufacturing Association and Anita Waite, Chair of the Big Sandy Natural Resource Conservation District. Also, one of three recommendation from consultant Patrick Cunningham was not offered since it involved a La Paz water committee that could not vote on any basins.
The final report of Mohave County West Basin Water Users Study Committee will include those 10 recommendations that were amended and passed by the committee and will be in the committee’s final report that will be published by the Arizona legislature before December 31, 2021.
