City of Kingman issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
The City of Kingman is pleased to announce the construction of a new FedEx Ground facility at the Kingman Industrial Park. Construction has begun on a 200,000+ square foot distribution center on 30 acres of previously owned City of Kingman land. The 30-acre land sale resulted in $1,975,000.00 in proceeds to the City of Kingman. Bennett Bratley, Economic Development Manager said, “The proceeds resulting from this land sale will be instrumental in the future development of the Kingman Airport as they are reinvested into airport infrastructure and operations over the next few years.”
Beginning in March of 2021, Bennett Bratley, Economic Development Manager, submitted various site options to the site selector which he thought would work well for a distribution center of this size. The City of Kingman’s Economic Development team has worked closely with KiernanWest, the developer and owner of the project from the selection of the land and through what is now the development phase. FedEx Ground will be leasing the property to operate a distribution center.
Mike O’Brien, Chief Operating Officer KiernanWest, LLC said, “The Kingman Economic Development team and their business-friendly environment made the decision to purchase city-owned land, and locate the project in the Kingman Industrial Park, an easy one.”
Kingman Mayor Jen Miles said, “I join with my fellow city officials to warmly welcome KiernanWest and FedEx to the City of Kingman and Mohave County. These high caliber companies recognize that the City of Kingman is a great place to do business. We will continue to promote opportunities for all types of commercial entities, new entrepreneurs and established companies, to locate and expand here. Landing this project is a huge win for all of us in the city and the county and one to build-upon in the future.”
City of Kingman Economic Development Manager Bennett Bratley said, “The City of Kingman Economic Development Department is continually targeting manufacturing and distribution companies to locate into the Kingman Industrial Park. The location of FedEx Ground into the Kingman Industrial Park will be a big win and a great addition to the industrial park.”
