City of Kingman issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held during the regular meeting of the Common Council of Kingman, at the at the City of Kingman Council Chambers located at 310 N. 4th Street, Kingman, Arizona 86401 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on February 15, 2022. This public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a project for which financial assistance is being sought from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The City of Kingman, Kingman Area Regional Transit (KART) is applying for federal financial assistance to provide public transportation service in the City of Kingman and Greater Kingman-Butler Area. Grant funds will be used to provide planning, administration, operating and capital necessary to continue the operation of four existing deviated bus routes through the end of federal fiscal year 2024. Capital items to be purchased will include one transit vehicle in FFY2023 and one transit vehicle in FFY2024.
The transportation service will be available to the general public during all hours of operation. The project is expected to be financed by FTA Section 5311 Rural Program public transportation funds, with local match to be provided by the City of Kingman General Fund account.
At the hearing, the Common Council of Kingman will afford an opportunity for interested persons or agencies to be heard with respect to the social, economic and environmental aspects of the project. Interested persons may submit oral or written evidence and recommendations with respect to said project. A copy of the grant proposal will be available at the hearing for public inspection.
Kingman Area Regional Transit ensures that the level and quality of transportation service is provided without regard to race, color, or national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Human service agencies that receive assistance from other Federal agencies for non-emergency transportation services are encouraged to participate and coordinate with the provider in the planning, design and delivery of transportation services. Agencies may obtain copies of the service description and submit proposals for service coordination. Private bus and taxi operators may request copies of the project service description from the above named person and may submit comments on the service as described.
If you wish to comment on any aspect of the proposed project, submit a proposal or a request for service coordination or request a public hearing on this project, you must make your interest known in writing within fifteen calendar days of the date of this publication and provide your comments within fifteen calendar days of your receipt of the project service description. Your requests and/or comments must be forwarded to the above person.
