Board of Supervisors to Vote on Final Budget on July 18

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors will vote on the FY2023 final budget following a public hearing scheduled Monday, July 18. The Board, which also governs the Flood Control, Library, and Television districts, adopted a tentative budget on June 20.

Truth in Taxation Hearing

Before the vote on the final budget, the public will have the opportunity to comment on the FY2023 budget which proposes to keep the tax rates the same. The Board does not control property values, but as the economy grows, property values increase, and some property owners may pay more in taxes as a result.

The “Truth in Taxation” hearing is required by law and provides Mohave County taxpayers the opportunity to voice their opinion about the following proposed levies:

o Primary property tax increase of $1,544,066 or 3.95%, which would raise primary property taxes on a $100,000 home from $175.47 to $182.40.

o Secondary property tax increase of $216,125 or 3.96%, which would increase secondary property taxes on a $100,000 home from $24.51 to $25.48. (Library District)

o Secondary property tax increase of $406,421 or 4.28%, which would increase secondary property taxes on a $100,000 home from $47.95 to $50.00. (Flood Control District)

The public hearing is scheduled on Monday, July 18, 2022 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Mohave County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale Street, Kingman, Arizona. Board meetings are open to the public and can be viewed through the County’s website at www.mohave.gov. The Board of Supervisors will meet on August 15 to vote on the final tax levy proposal.
