This month, ensure your family knows how to recognize and respond to a natural gas leak.
Natural gas is colorless and odorless, so an odor like rotten eggs is added to help us detect it. Gas leaks can also be identified in the following ways:
- Unusual blowing or hissing sound coming from a pipeline, meter or appliance
- Unusual changes to soil, dead or dying plants, blowing dirt, or standing water bubbling
- Leave the area immediately and go to a safe location
- Call 911 or 480-644-4277
