Washington, D.C. - Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-09), strongly condemned the Senate's proposed $118 billion amnesty bill, calling it "complete rubbish." In a statement, Gosar expressed concerns about the bill's failure to address border security and its potential negative impact on the United States.

Gosar criticized the bill for not effectively closing the southern border, stating that it would actually worsen the situation by allowing 5,000 illegal aliens to cross the border each day. He highlighted the fact that the legislation would provide a path to citizenship for 1.85 million illegal aliens, if they are among the first 5,000 to cross on any given day. Gosar referenced a recent tweet by Senator Chris Murphy, who noted that under the Senate legislation, the "border never closes."

The congressman also highlighted several other problematic aspects of the bill. He expressed concern about the allocation of $1.4 billion to provide housing, transportation, and legal counsel to illegal aliens, describing it as a misuse of taxpayer funds. Gosar further criticized the provision that would grant indefinite work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, arguing that it would harm American workers and suppress wages.

Gosar also raised objections to the bill's allocation of 85% of its funding to foreign countries. He pointed out that $60 billion would be directed towards the proxy war in Ukraine and $10 billion to Gaza. Meanwhile, only $620 million would be allocated to maintain the border wall, leaving open areas vulnerable to illegal crossings.

The congressman took issue with Senator Lankford's justification for the bill, stating that it falsely claimed the immigration system was weak. Gosar argued that the problem lies not with the law itself, but with the failure to enforce it and deport illegal immigrants. He criticized the bill's proposal to allocate billions to hire more bureaucrats, stating that it was not a funding or legal problem, but a deliberate policy decision by the current administration to open the borders.

Gosar also expressed concern about the bill's provisions regarding work permits for illegal immigrants. He claimed that the bill would reward illegal aliens with work permits, enabling them to keep wages low and take jobs from Americans. He warned of the potential for fraud and fake arrangements under the provision that would grant work permits to engaged or married illegal aliens and their children.

In conclusion, Gosar categorically stated his refusal to support the bill, asserting that no lawmaker should. He called it the "worst bill in Congress in a decade," emphasizing his strong opposition to its provisions and the potential consequences it could have for border security and the American workforce.
