Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has written a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin requesting information regarding the Department of Defense's presence in the Middle East. The letter includes inquiries about the number of U.S. military facilities in various countries and the purpose and legality of these facilities. Gosar also questions the number of U.S. service members stationed in these countries.

The congressman's concerns stem from an airstrike at Tower 22 in Jordan, which resulted in the death of three National Guardsmen and numerous injuries. In a recent newsletter, Gosar criticizes the Biden administration for occupying these countries without proper authorization and using service members as bait. He emphasizes, "Congress has not authorized this base, called Tower 22."

Gosar highlights that most of the injured individuals are members of the Is Battalion, 158th Infantry Regiment, also known as the "Bushmasters," from the Arizona National Guard. He reveals that three of the injured guardsmen had to be medically evacuated for critical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

This attack marks the first instance in which U.S. troops were killed out of over 150 attacks on U.S. bases and ships in the Middle East since the October 7 jihad massacre attack on Israel by Hamas. Gosar also mentions the deaths of two Navy SEALs who drowned while intercepting Iranian weapons off the coast of Somalia.

In response to the attack, the U.S. initiated retaliatory strikes in the Middle East. Over 125 precision munitions were deployed, targeting more than 85 locations, according to CENTCOM.

Furthermore, the congressman references an alarming revelation regarding Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's hospitalization for complications related to prostate cancer. Austin had undergone "elective surgery" but failed to disclose his condition to the Biden administration and the American public. When questioned about the incident, Austin refused to provide answers during his recent press conference.

The Pentagon has released the names of the three servicemembers who lost their lives in the attack. They are Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett.

Gosar also expresses support for the Defend the Guard Act, legislation sponsored by State Senator Wendy Rogers in Arizona. This act aims to prevent the deployment of National Guard troops into active duty combat unless an official declaration of war is passed by the U.S. Congress. The bill has gained traction in multiple states, including New Hampshire.

In conclusion, Congressman Gosar's letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin seeks transparency regarding the U.S. military presence in the Middle East. The congressman raises concerns about the legality and purpose of military facilities in various countries. He also criticizes the Biden administration's handling of the situation and expresses support for legislation to prevent the deployment of National Guard troops without congressional approval.
