After Gov. Doug Ducey ordered businesses to close in March, 166 million women wondered how to proceed with their hair care routine.
The perplexity was shared by most small hair salons in the state. According to The Miner, hair salons and barber shops are a vigorous part of the Kingman economy. All the haircare businesses had to close their shops on March 31 after Ducey issued his “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” executive order.
For example, Envy Hair and Hail Salon, which is located at 4495 N. Bank St., closed on March 30. This left regular customers staggering over the news. They didn't know what to do or where to go to get their hair done.
“We want all of you to be safe,” Envy Hair and Hail Salon wrote on their Facebook page.
According to The Miner, on May 13 most hair salons were back and open for business.
“It was not an easy decision,” Sabrina Rae Joyce of BLOOM, told The Miner. The Miner reports that Joyce closed her shop on her own. The BLOOM salon is now back in business.
“I had a little anxiety at first but all the clients have been so grateful and understanding,” Joyce said. “Rescheduling over 100 appointments is quite a bit of work in itself. Almost everyone we are seeing are regular clients so that’s comforting. Although we get phone calls from new clients and are accommodating them as well.”
