On June 9, 2022, the College’s Board of Governors approved the budget for FY 2022-2023 and board members were very pleased with the hard work and dedication of the college employees.  It was also noted, the college has zero debt and is on solid financial footing.

This is great news for employees and students as the college moves forward to expand and improve services that align with the Strategic Plan.  With that in mind, the college has added some new positions and reclassified others to help meet the Objectives outlined in the Plan.

“As Mohave Community College enacts many elements of the Strategic Plan, one of the first orders of business is to make sure people are in positions to help ensure overall success,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein.

Among the position changes are Dr. Lucinda Leugers and Dr. Tonya Jackson.  For the past year they have been serving in interim roles as the Dean and Associate Dean, respectively.  Effective July 1, Lucinda and Tonya will assume the roles on a permanent basis.

Jason Gee will be the Interim Dean of Career and Technical Education, reporting to Executive Vice President Dr. Tim Culver. 

“Jason has been instrumental with the development of CTE curriculum over the years and will continue to partner with the other Deans to build a strategic academic master plan, credit and non-credit, designed to grow enrollment and serve the needs of our region,” said Dr. Culver. 

Dr. Kirk Lacy will continue as the Dean of Workforce and Regional Partnerships Development, and report to Dr. Tim Culver.  Dr. Lacy will oversee Community & Corporate Education and Small Business Development Center initiatives and associated non-credit offerings, while helping create non-credit to credit bridges.  Lori Gunnette will continue as the Interim Director for Community Education and Mary Mendola will assume a new role as the Director of Corporate Training & Business Development Programs and Grants.  Both will report to Dr. Lacy.

Michelle Brehmeyer will be taking on new responsibilities with Recruitment Management and assume a new title, Associate Dean of Enrollment Services. Tricia Hanks will assume the role of Registrar.

Among the new positions in the college Administrative Services Division is a Director of Risk Management and Emergency Response. 

“The recent law enforcement activity at the Neal Campus in Kingman highlighted the need for a full-time position to oversee and manage all safety protocols on all campuses,” said Vice President of Administrative Services Jennie Dixon

The person who fills this college-wide position will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage a comprehensive risk management program and the college-wide emergency response programs. The college would like to have this position filled over the summer.

Also in the Administrative Services Division, the college is creating a new college-wide Facilities Assistant Director position. Previously, the Havasu Campus Facilities Manager also served as the college-wide Assistant Director of Facilities Management-New Construction.  The workload at the Havasu Campus, along with an increase in college-wide remodeling and new construction projects will require a full time Assistant Director dedicated to the planning and execution of construction projects.  This will also allow the Havasu Facilities Manager to focus solely on campus facilities project management. 

Student & Community Engagement is repurposing the Evening Campus Manager position to Student Life Coordinator on the Kingman and Lake Havasu campuses.  This will provide more focus on expanding student engagement opportunities, especially for afternoon, evening, and virtual students.  It will also allow the college to be more diligent in efforts to support the student life experience component of the strategic plan.

The college is also searching for a new Bullhead City Campus Dean.  This position will take on added responsibilities that include athletic partnerships and student housing. 

Dr. Carolyn Hamblin is returning home to the northern Arizona and southern Utah region.  She will serve as Dean of the North Mohave Campus.  John Cawley will serve as the new Associate Campus Dean and CIS Faculty. 

The College Marketing and Public Information Office will be renamed Communications and Public Relations, will move under the Office of the President.  James Jarman will serve as the Executive Director and take on additional responsibilities, which will include government relations and college lobbying efforts.  Vanessa Espinoza will serve as Public Information Manager and her new responsibilities will include coordinating college news and events promotion and coverage.  A new position, Website Content Manager, will help the college improve the accuracy and layout of content on the college website Mohave.edu and the new MCC Athletics website, which is in development.
