AZ Health Zone Brings Seed to Supper Program to LHC

Mohave

Food insecurity is a part of life for many people, sacrificing healthy choices for cheaper processed foods. AZ Health Zone, with the Mohave County Department of Public Health (MCDPH), will be conducting the free Seed to Supper program for Lake Havasu City area residents. The program spans three weeks with six distinctly different presentations focused on affordable gardening. The series will take participants on a journey from vegetable/fruit garden development to harvest. The presentations will be conducted from 1-3 p.m. on July 9, 16, and 23, at the Lake Havasu Aquatic Center, 100 Park Ave., rooms 155/156.

Each day will involve two, one-hour presentations. The series is open to the public, but seating is limited to 49 participants, which will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. The program can benefit first-time gardeners or those with some experience. Zen Mocarski, community health education specialist says “There are many challenges to gardening in the desert,” adding that “the goal of the Seed to Supper program is to break down the barriers preventing people from growing healthy, easily accessible foods at home.” This is a terrific series, offering positive and healthy benefits to all who participate.
