The Chandler Fire Department in Arizona is inviting the public to attend an open house at Fire Station No. 2 on February 3, 2024. The newly constructed station, located at 1911 N. Alma School Road, will be open to visitors from 9 a.m. to noon.

Fire Station No. 2 was built in stages while the previous station was still in operation. The new facility includes four vehicle bays for fire apparatus and additional space for a second engine company, allowing for a higher capacity to respond to the area's high call volume.

The open house presents a unique opportunity for the public to explore the new station and learn about the various services provided by the Chandler Fire Department. Visitors will have the chance to obtain information on safety, fire prevention, and emergency preparedness.

During the event, there will be tours of the station, displays of fire trucks and ambulances, as well as demonstrations of emergency medical services. Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive blood pressure checks and learn about drowning prevention. Children will be able to participate in hands-on instruction on how to navigate a smoke-filled environment in the Fire Safety House display. Additionally, free balloons and fire helmets will be available for children.

One of the highlights of the open house will be instruction on Hands-Only CPR. This technique has been proven to be as effective as conventional CPR when performed by a bystander during emergencies at home, work, or in public. Mayor Kevin Hartke encourages attendees to remember the two simple steps: "call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest."
