CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Chandler City Council has chosen Councilmember O.D. Harris as the city's new Vice Mayor. This decision was made during the council's recent meeting on January 11th. Vice Mayor Harris will hold this position until January 9, 2025.

"Our community is at the heart of everything that I do – it’s why I ran for Council in the first place,” said Harris. “I thank my colleagues for giving me the opportunity to further serve in this capacity and I am looking forward to the year ahead.”

Vice Mayor Harris, a U.S. Army Veteran and entrepreneur, began his first term on the City Council in January 2021. He has been dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all Chandler residents. One of his priorities is promoting mental health programming and forming partnerships to support the well-being of the community.

In addition to his civic duties, Vice Mayor Harris is a best-selling author and the founder of the national Ready Set Go Foundation, which empowers young people to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential. His commitment to education and mentorship has positively impacted numerous lives. Vice Mayor Harris is also known for his expertise in accounting, highlighting his commitment to excellence and fiscal responsibility.

Vice Mayor Harris's values, including his faith, devotion to his family, and integrity, guide his decision-making and inspire him to lead with compassion. He currently represents Chandler on various local, regional, and national platforms, such as the Institute for Building Technology and Safety Board of Directors, Valley Metro Rail Board of Directors, Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority Board of Directors, La Frontera Arizona and EMPACT-SPC Governing Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, Black Philanthropy Initiative, Chandler Community Safety Subcommittee, Chandler Connectivity Subcommittee, and Chandler Quality of Life Subcommittee.
