Reports reveal that if a citizen has lost their job due to the coronavirus crisis, they could be eligible for coverage by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (HCCCS).
The HCCCS is offering Medicaid and KidsCare arrangements for Arizonans.
Many Americans get their healthcare through their employer. However, recent unemployment numbers due to the coronavirus crisis show that many Americans have lost health coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On March 25 Gov. Doug Ducey wrote a letter to Alex Azar, who is the Health and Human Services Secretary. In the letter, Ducey proposed a special enrollment period for Medicaid that would cut all the red tape.
“At this time when health insurance is of critical importance and so many people are experiencing a loss of employment, opening a special enrollment period will cut unnecessary red tape and lift a paperwork burden off individuals who are already facing challenges from a sudden and significant change in circumstances,” Ducey wrote in the letter.
Those who have lost their job and insurance, can apply on the program's website.
