Lake Havasu Unified School District No. 1 issued the following announcement on July 14.
I hope this finds everyone well rested from a great summer break.
We are excited to welcome you all back for the 2021-2022 school year! Schools will be reaching out to families in the coming week to share specific back to school information. We continue to have some COVID mitigation strategies in place, which are outlined below, but we are looking forward to re-opening with a return to normal operating procedures.
Face coverings are no longer required for staff, students or visitors; however, anyone wishing to wear a mask is welcome to do so. We will continue to have masks available on buses and in schools if needed/requested.
COVID vaccines are available in the community, but not a requirement of LHUSD.
Quarantining will no longer be required for close-contact.
The district will notify students and staff to self-monitor if we are made aware that a student or staff member has tested positive for COVID; however, as was required in the spring, should a student or staff member test positive for COVID or show symptoms of COVID, quarantining will be required for 10 days. Anyone being quarantined may return after day 7 if they receive a negative COVID test after day 5 of isolation.
Washing hands, covering coughs, and basic respiratory etiquette will continue to be encouraged and supported in all schools. LHUSD continues to ask families to support a healthy learning environment by keeping students who are sick at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours and any other symptoms have improved.
Facilities will continue to utilize a high standard for cleanliness.
Visitors, Field Trips, Clubs, Athletics and Activities will all return to normal procedures.
We will continue to work closely with our local Mohave County Health Department for the health and safety of our school community.
We will update all staff and families should there be a change in our operating procedures.
