Mohave Community College issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.
Wendy Gustafson, a Mohave Community College – Bullhead City campus student, has been named a 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship.
Gustafson is a Social and Behavioral Science student at MCC. She is planning to transfer to Arizona State University where she will earn her bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies. Her career goals are to work in youth behavioral and prevention because she enjoys helping youth overcome challenges during their most vulnerable years.
“I’m beyond grateful to have been selected as a Silver Scholar on Coca-Cola’s 2022 Academic Team,” Gustafson said. “I will use this award to further my education in Women’s and Gender Studies, where I desire to be of service to the youth of our local community.”
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion.

Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.
Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies and will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, to be held in Denver, Colorado, April 7-9.
